TECOBI vs CarSales AI OS: Add-On Layer or All-in-One?
Key Takeaways
- 1TECOBI adds AI follow-up on top of the CRM you already have (VinSolutions, eLead/Fortellis, ProMax and others); CarSales AI OS replaces the CRM.
- 2TECOBI's strengths: ten years in market, about 15 named integrations, TCPA tooling (TECOBI Shield) and large included SMS allowances. Its AI voice assistant has been announced and is in beta.
- 3CarSales AI OS: CRM, inventory, desking, AI texting and the Lot Line phone agent live today in one system, priced per store, 14 days free with no card.

Dealers who look at TECOBI and at CarSales AI OS are usually trying to fix the same thing: leads that don't get a fast, useful answer, and follow-up that depends on who remembered. The two products fix it with different designs. TECOBI is a layer that sits on top of your CRM. CarSales AI OS is the CRM, with the AI built in. Which is right depends less on features than on what you already own.

Design 1: the AI layer (TECOBI)
On its own website TECOBI describes itself as AI follow-up that works with the CRM you already have, not a CRM replacement. Its integrations page names roughly 15 systems, including VinSolutions, eLead/Fortellis and ProMax. Leads and customer data stay in your CRM; TECOBI reads them, works the conversation and writes back.
The modules TECOBI lists include Auto Bots® for automated conversations, a Response Bot that reads each customer reply and picks a route for it, SMS and call queues for the team, an appointment scheduler, desking and a desk log, AI attribution, call tracking with AI call summaries, custom profile pages, document signing by text, a website widget, text broadcasting, reporting, and TECOBI Shield for TCPA compliance. TECOBI has been in market for about ten years, is based in Colorado, and is led by CEO Jason Girdner. Its site's main call to action is "Book a demo"; it doesn't publish a free trial. An AI voice assistant has been announced publicly and is in beta.
Where the layer design wins: a franchise store with a CRM contract it can't leave, a BDC trained on that CRM, and OEM reporting built around it. Adding a layer is much less disruptive than replacing the system everyone logs into. TECOBI's integrations, TCPA tooling and track record are real advantages in that world, and its SMS allowances (15,000 to 120,000 a month) are generous.
Design 2: the all-in-one system (CarSales AI OS)
CarSales AI OS replaces the CRM rather than sitting on it. One login covers the CRM and pipeline, inventory, desking, an F&I compliance checklist, AI texting (draft or automatic, with quiet hours), the Lot Line AI phone agent, appointments, ten follow-up plays, reports and an all-stores report, and showroom pages for your website. Every car is listed free on the FMYCAR.com marketplace. The app runs in English or Spanish, the AI can reply to customers in Spanish, and logins can use two-factor authentication. Texting and the phone agent run on a GoHighLevel account we connect and set up for you.
Where the all-in-one design wins: independent and buy-here-pay-here stores that don't love their CRM, are paying for four or five tools that don't share a record, or don't have a BDC to babysit an integration. The AI sees the whole record (the car, the deal, the appointment, the conversation) because there is only one record.

The two questions that decide it
- Can you leave your CRM? If not, a layer is the only realistic option, and TECOBI is a serious one. If you can, every layer you add is another bill and another seam where a lead can fall through.
- Who answers the phone at 7:45 pm? Text follow-up is table stakes now. Phone calls are still where many stores lose the most live buyers. Lot Line answers today, looks up your live inventory, texts the car's link while the caller is still on the line and books the visit.
What switching looks like, if you go all-in-one
The fear with replacing a CRM is a lost weekend and a lost month. It doesn't have to work that way. With CarSales AI OS you paste your website address and setup reads your name, hours, logo and cars from it; inventory then re-syncs from your site every night. Customers come in from a CSV export of the old system, with duplicates skipped by phone or email. You point your website forms and listing-site lead emails at your new lead address and leave the old CRM running while you compare the two on live leads. We connect and set up the GoHighLevel account that carries your texting and Lot Line, so nobody is configuring phone numbers on a Saturday. The Go-live checklist then lists what is left for your store, from your real data, and each item opens the screen that finishes it.
If you stay with your CRM and add a layer instead, ask the same practical questions: who maps the CRM fields, what happens when the CRM vendor changes its API, and who you call when a lead shows up in one system but not the other.
How to test both
Ask each vendor for the same thing: send three test leads at 8 pm, call the store's number after hours, and read what comes back. With CarSales AI OS you can do that yourself during the 14-day free trial, no card, with your own inventory loaded from your website. The full feature-by-feature table is in our CarSales AI OS vs TECOBI comparison. When you're ready, get your price in 30 seconds or book a demo.
