    AI for car dealerships

AI for car dealerships: follow-up, content and visibility, built into the CRM

Every vendor now says the word AI. The useful question for a dealer is narrower: what work does it take off the team, and can you trust what it says to a customer? CarSales AI uses AI for three jobs where the payoff is clear — following up with leads in your voice, writing every car's marketing from its real data, and finding out whether ChatGPT and Gemini recommend you — and keeps a person one tap away on all of them.

What is AI for car dealers good at, and what is it not?

Having worked a desk and a phone, the honest list is short. AI is good at doing the same careful thing a thousand times without getting bored: answering "is it still available" at 9:40 pm, writing the 300th vehicle description of the month, sending the day-6 follow-up text nobody remembers to send, and reading what ChatGPT says about your store so you do not have to ask it yourself. It is not good at reading a customer's face on the lot, negotiating a trade, or deciding your pricing. CarSales AI is built on that split: the AI handles the repetitive, time-sensitive, text-heavy work, and your people handle the people.

How does AI follow-up work in a dealership CRM?

The automotive AI assistant in CarSales AI lives in the inbox, not in a chat bubble on your website. That matters because it can see the whole customer: the car they asked about, the open deal, the credit app, the trade appraisal, the appointments and the service history.

    1. A message comes in by text, from the website, from FMYCAR or from a listing site. The copilot reads it and guesses the intent — payment, approval, price, availability, trade, appointment, service — then confirms with the AI.
    2. It drafts the reply in your voice. Availability answers come from the live inventory record. Payment questions get estimates computed by your desking settings (tax, doc fee, APR), labeled "with approved credit," never invented by the language model.
    3. It offers appointment times and books them. The AI sees your open slots, proposes two or three, books the one the customer picks, and texts the confirmation with your address.
    4. It hands off cleanly. In draft mode a salesperson taps "Use this reply." In auto mode the AI sends on its own, only between 8am and 9pm, at most a handful of replies per customer per day, and it holds for 30 minutes the moment a person on your team replies. STOP is honored instantly.
    5. Follow-up plays run for 14 days. New lead, appointment reminder, be-back, sold and review plays each have their own schedule of texts and emails and stop when the customer answers.

The salesperson sees one thread per customer with the AI's messages labeled, plus buttons for what the conversation needs next: desk the deal, start a credit app, appraise the trade, book a test drive.

    The AI voice agent

Phones are where small stores lose the most leads. The AI voice agent answers when nobody can, looks up the caller, checks availability, offers open times, books the appointment and texts a confirmation and a link to the car. If a call is missed, a text-back goes out automatically so the shopper hears from you within the minute. Every call and text shows up on the customer's record.

How does AI write car dealership marketing?

Open any car in CarSales AI and click "AI marketing." One click writes a Google title (60 characters or fewer), a meta description (155 or fewer), a 120–180 word website description with five highlights, and separate Facebook, Instagram (with hashtags) and Google Business posts. Everything comes from the car's real data and mentions your city for local search. A Google preview shows what the result will look like; a "price changed — rewrite" prompt appears when the price moves.

On the AI Marketing page you can see coverage (how many cars have content), write for every car that is missing it in bulk, and turn on autopilot: new cars get written automatically, and new arrivals and price drops are posted to the accounts you choose on a schedule that never spams (at most a few posts per half hour, never the same car twice, bulk imports skipped). Pick a writing style — friendly, fun or luxury — and whether to use hashtags. Posting goes through your connected social planner, and each car keeps a history of what was posted where.

Does ChatGPT recommend your dealership? AI Visibility finds out

Shoppers have started asking AI assistants "best used car dealers in Methuen" and "where can I get financed with bad credit near Lawrence." Those answers come from what the assistants can read on the open web, and most dealer websites give them very little. AI Visibility runs the check for you: it asks ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude six real shopper questions about your market and your store, and shows how often you are named, how often your website is cited, who was named instead, which sites the assistants trusted, and what they say about you when asked by name. A score trend tracks progress over time; an optional weekly re-check runs on its own.

Then it tells you what to fix, in order: publish the AI fact page (plain HTML with your name, address, hours, financing, FAQs and every car, with AutoDealer, FAQ and ItemList schema), put AI content on every car, pass the website check (AI crawlers allowed, no noindex, schema present, phone and city match, city in the title, sitemap), paste the AutoDealer schema snippet into your own site, and work through the listings the assistants lean on: Bing Places, Google Business Profile, Apple Business Connect, reviews, CarGurus, Cars.com, AutoTrader and the BBB. The AI Visibility page goes deeper.

Guardrails: how we keep AI from embarrassing your store

    • Facts only. Content is generated from the vehicle record and your "facts AI should know" profile, which an owner or admin writes and approves.
    • Math is code, not the model. Payment estimates come from the desking engine.
    • Quiet hours, caps and opt-outs are enforced in the system, not in the prompt.
    • Roles. Only owners and admins change autopilot and reply modes; demo dealerships never post or text real people.
    • Everything is visible. Every AI message, post and check is logged on the customer or car it touched.

    What it costs

AI follow-up, the voice agent, AI marketing and AI Visibility are included on every dealership plan: Lot $349/month, Pro $699/month, Rooftop $1,499/month per rooftop, all month-to-month with unlimited users and 14 days free. Add Done-For-You for $800/month if you want our team to keep listings and posts going, tune follow-up and review AI Visibility every month. Questions dealers ask

Four useful things today: it answers and follows up with leads by text and phone in your dealership's voice; it writes the Google title, description, website copy and social posts for every car from the car's real data; it checks whether ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude recommend your store and tells you what to fix; and it summarizes what to do next on each car and each lead. CarSales AI does all four inside the CRM, not as separate tools.

No. A website chatbot waits on one page for a visitor to type. CarSales AI's automotive AI assistant works from the CRM: it replies to texts from your store's number, answers the phone, books appointments on your calendar, writes in your dealership's voice from the real inventory record, and hands the conversation to a person the moment one steps in. It also does the marketing and visibility work a chatbot never touches.

Yes, and most dealers start that way. AI replies have three modes: off, draft and auto. In draft mode the AI writes every reply and a salesperson taps send. In auto mode it sends on its own inside quiet hours (8am–9pm), with a daily cap per customer, and stops when a person on your team replies. You can change the mode in Settings at any time.

It is only allowed to write from the car's record and your dealership's facts. Vehicle descriptions and posts are generated from the actual year, make, model, trim, mileage, price, features and your city. Payment estimates in texts are computed by the desking math, not by the language model, and are labeled "with approved credit."

A check that asks ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude six real shopper questions — best dealers in your city, where to buy, bad-credit financing, your top make, a body style under your typical price, and your store by name — and shows how often you are named, which site was cited, who was named instead, and what the assistants say about you. It comes with a fix list and publishes an AI fact page with your name, address, hours, financing, FAQs and every car in plain HTML.

Yes. The AI voice agent can answer calls, look up a customer, check availability, offer open appointment times, book the appointment, text a confirmation with your address, and text a link to the car. Missed calls get an automatic text-back.

No. CarSales AI provides the AI engines on every plan. Dealers who want to use their own keys can connect them in Settings.
